The Alium Alpha Team
Rajeev has 20 years of experience analysing, investing & building technology companies. Rajeev began his investment career at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for almost a decade in the investment group in Hong Kong, Singapore & New York with a focus on listed & unlisted technology companies. Rajeev then utilised his technology investment experience as a portfolio manager at both Tribeca & Merricks Capital where he ran global technology funds. He then built his own 25-person technology start up called Geckolife, before establishing Alium Capital. Rajeev has an Honours degree in Finance & Econometrics from the University of Sydney.
Jason has 18 years experience in equity markets both in Australia & across Asia. Jason began his career on the graduate program at Goldman Sachs in London having studied economics & law at Sydney University. After 5 years in London, Jason returned to Sydney to open an office for GLS Capital which was a global emerging markets hedge fund, where he ran a fundamental long/short portfolio focusing on Asia/Australia. Jason then ran a similar portfolio at Bennelong Asset Management before moving to Singapore to launch Canning Park Capital which was also an Asia Pacific focused long/short fund. Most recently Jason worked at JCAM asset management which was a family office structure spun out of Moore Capital.
Michael has over 16 years of equity market experience predominantly in Asia & Australia. Michael started out as a private client advisor with Salomon Smith Barney before moving to Singapore with Citigroup where he worked within the Institutional Equities Division. Michael then moved to Morgan Stanley where he spent the next 8 years with time in both Hong Kong & Singapore focusing on Asia ex Japan equity markets. After heading the Institutional Equity Sales & Trading desk in Singapore as an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, Michael returned to Australia to help establish a global long short fund before co-founding Alium Capital. Michael has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney.
Head of Distribution
Matthew has over 20 years experience in the Funds Management industry. Matthew spent 7 years at JANA Investment Advisers, where he set up their retail Distribution operations, along with being a Principal of Business Development. He then moved to Standard Life/Aberdeen Asset Management where was Head of Consultant Research and Relations for their over 25 fund offerings. Matthew then moved to boutique hedge fund VGI Partners as Head of Distribution. Matthew has a Bachelor of Commerce with Merit from Wollongong University, and has completed the CPA studies.
Sean has over 9 years of experience analyzing small and midcaps. Sean worked with Fidelity as an equity analyst coverage included education, childcare, automotive, paper & packaging, print, legal, leasing, defense contractors, and other consumer services and small industrials, as well as a focus on investigative accounting. Sean completed a Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University with Finance Honors.
Head of Operations
Prashanth has over 8 years of experience in financial services industry in fund administration in India and Australia. Prashanth previously worked at Societe Generale, Northern Trust, Unity Fund Services, SS&C and Apex Funds Services before joining Alium Capital. Prashanth completed a Bachelor of Business Management specialised in Finance from Bangalore University and Master of Accounting from Macquarie University. Currently he is studying Chartered Accountancy from CAANZ.
David Jones AM
David has more than 30 years’ experience in investment markets, the majority as a general partner in private equity firms, and prior to that in general management and management consulting. David has been a board member of numerous private and public businesses, including a number in the wealth management sector. David was a Managing Director at CHAMP Private Equity; Executive Director and Country Head of UBS Capital and a Division Director at Macquarie Direct Investment. David commenced his career at McKinsey & Co. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Melbourne (First Class Honours) and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
David is Chairman of VGI Partners Global Investments Limited (ASX: VG1); a board member of Regal Asian Investments Limited (ASX:RG8) and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation; a member of the investment committee of Aviron Investment Management and EMR Capital; and a partner in DTS Capital.
